Vacant and Abandoned Properties code enforcement is responsible for establishing minimum standards of accountability for property owners and/or responsible parties of vacant and abandoned structures in order to protect the health, safety and general welfare of the residents of the Township of Washington. 

Effective May 20, 2015, owners of any vacant property shall within sixty (60) days after the building becomes vacant or within thirty (30) days after assuming ownership of the vacant property, whichever is later, file a registration statement for each such vacant property. The registration shall remain valid for one year from the date of registration annually as long as the building remains a vacant property and shall pay a registration or renewal fee in the amount as prescribed in the Township Code Chapter 179-79 d:

Anticipated Registration or Renewal Fees:
Initial registration fee per property: $500
1st renewal per property: $1500
2nd renewal per property: $3000
Subsequent renewal beyond the 2nd renewal per property: $5000
