In order for your trash to be picked up: Trash, Recycling and Yard Debris MUST BE SEPARATED into properly designated cans! Three Separate trucks come by to pick up trash, failure to separate the trash, can and will result in your waste not being picked up.

Weekly Trash Pickup:
Please remember that trash and recycling cannot be put out any earlier than 6 p.m. the evening before your trash day (Ordinance 212-15.D). For questions regarding Trash and Recycling pick-up please call 856-589-3227 or 856-589-0523.

Delayed Pick-Up:
The following holidays will delay trash ONE DAY:  New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving and Christmas. If the holiday falls on the weekend, there will be no delay. However, please note if a holiday falls on a weekend, but is officially observed on a weekday, there will still be a delay. The trash company does try to get ahead of the schedule by working in developments on their regularly scheduled day. This is done if they finish the previous day’s route early. However, they will always go back through the following day as well. Anyone who did not put out on their regular day need not worry because they will be around to pick up the following day.

Businesses:
Businesses in Washington Township that have private dumpster service and are interested in recycling single stream items (bottles, cans, paper, cardboard), E-Waste or metal items please contact the Public Works Department at 856-589-0523

White Goods, TV's & Other Metal Products:
All metal objects, TV's and white goods (i.e.: refrigerators, washers, dryers, and other metal appliances) will not be retrieved curbside by normal trash collection. You must schedule pick up with Municipal Services located at 523 Egg Harbor Road by Monday afternoon at 3:30 p.m. in order for Public Works to take to the item recycling yard. There is a flat $20 retrieval rate for all TVs, metal items, and white goods. These items are picked up on Tuesdays only.  Alternatively, these same items may be disposed of free of charge. Please bring these items to the recycling yard located at 2 McClure Drive next to the old Municipal Services Building. The recycling yard is open every Saturday from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. This new policy helps the township negotiate a lower rate with our current contractor, thereby saving taxpayers money. Another option regarding disposal of working refrigerators can be found online.

Hazardous Waste Collection:
For household special waste collection such as oil based paints, stains, motor oil, antifreeze, lead acid, and all rechargeable batteries, DFL bulbs, fluorescent lights and ballasts, solvents, pesticides, cleaners, kerosene, herbicides, gasoline, turpentine, varnish, fertilizers, rat poisons, auto and floor care products, weed killers, lighter fluid, propane tanks, photographic and pool chemicals etc., please call Gloucester County Hazardous Waste at 478-6045, ext. 14 or go to their website

Bulk items i.e. furniture, sofas, mattresses, etc. can be placed out on trash day. They should be placed by the curb alongside your household trash.

Holidays:
An outside contractor does collection of trash and recyclables; therefore, the holiday collection schedule is observed only on their observed holidays, not the Township's holidays.
