In this month's issue of NJ Municipalities (The Official Publication of the New Jersey State League of Municipalities) talks about using creative solutions to local problems by using artists, designers, heritage and tradition bearers, and other creatives to help frame community issues in new ways to develop inspired, artistic solutions. Mayor Gattinelli and Washington Township took Top Prize for the "Painting the Town" proposal, which addressed the municipality's lack of a downtown. By using the arts as a common thread, we hope to encourage community members to use all the community assets (schools, parks, and businesses) and create shared spaces in which people can gather. We used multiple events and a great creative team to enhance the awareness of, appreciation for, and participation in the arts. Things like Rain Barrel Art, The Memorial Day Arts Challenge, a Mobile Gallery, the Chalk Challenge, and even Augmented Reality! Read the full story here!
