Public LibraryFriends of the Library
The Friends are a group of individuals who value libraries and want to help expand services, improve the facility, promote the library to the community, and help with fund raising. Everyone aged 18 and over is invited to attend the Friends meeting at 6:30 p.m. in the library on the 4th Thursday of each month, with changes for holidays.
Library Board of Trustees
The Margaret E. Heggan Free Public Library has a nine member Board of Trustees which must include the mayor and the local superintendent of schools. The other seven members are appointed by the mayor and must be approved by council. The Board is responsible, in cooperation with the library director and following New Jersey Library Laws, for establishing the policies that govern the library and for determining library objectives appropriate to the needs of the community. The Board delegates administration of the library to the director. The Library is currently directed by Sheila Mikkelson.

The public is welcome to attend Board Meetings on the 3rd Wednesday of each month at 5:00 pm in the Library.
